# 3. What is Prompt engineering, or how to chat with ChatGPT?

In the words of Carl Jung, "Asking the right question is half of the problem," and just like that, crafting the perfect prompt can unlock ChatGPT's limitless potential, sparking insightful conversations and groundbreaking discoveries.
If you are an educator, you may disapprove of the word “cheat sheet”. Cheating is wrong, and it harms first of all the cheaters themselves. But let me tell you one personal story.

Why do some cheat?
Back when I was a student, around 20 years ago, an average undergraduate student in a Ukrainian university had to take up to 10 courses per semester, which would be equivalent to about 25-30 credits in the US. All classes were mandatory, there were no electives. If you failed a course, you were excluded from the university. Some professors, definitely not all of them, emphasized the importance of memorizing information. For example, as a freshman, majoring in Psychology and English Language & Literature, I had to memorize anatomical differences between Australopithecus and Ardipithecus for my Anthropology class.
Did I cheat? Yes, and no. I would sometimes create cheat sheets before some strenuous examinations, but I never used them for fear of being caught. You know what? I feel grateful for those tiny little cheat sheets that I would write as they taught me how to chunk information, pinpoint the key points, and how to structure them in a visually clear way on the tiniest piece of paper.
So, now, almost 20 years later, let me share with you a Cheat Sheet that I created on how to chat with ChatGPT! Hope you will like it!

Chat GPT Cheat Sheet
I have created this Cheat Sheet on the basis of my experiments with ChatGPT! There are many more interesting ideas online, or you may start experimenting yourself!

Chat GPT is not the only AI chatbot. Chatbots serve as invaluable tools for automating routine tasks, such as tracking project timelines, sending timely reminders for deadlines, and gathering status updates from team members. On the other hand, ChatGPT’s capabilities shine when it comes to generating new and original content. It can not only create a gripping story but also generate a detailed technical manual. For instance, it can process inputs from various sources, compile comprehensive project reports, draft insightful meeting minutes, or even create detailed technical manuals based on specified specifications.

ChatGPT has access to information until 2021 because it was trained on a dataset that includes text up until that time. The training process involves collecting and processing a vast amount of data, which has a cutoff date to ensure that the model does not have access to information beyond that point. To be honest, I personally think that ChatGPT is so powerful that the creators decided to limit its access to more contemporary information! Am I right or is it my fear?
Google Bard which is mentioned as a runner-up has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the things that it can do is provide you with references to the information that it generated. In other words, it can share where it got the sources it used to generate its new content. Something that ChatGPT does not do (at least now).
