The Outset

I have always been against everything artificial: artificial sweeteners are bad for health, artificial flavors are fake, artificial flowers remind me of cemeteries, and artificial materials pollute the ocean. Furthermore, when I first met the early example of AI in the form of an online translator about 20 years ago, it generated comically incorrect variants.

If early online translators generated giggles, contemporary AI machines could pose a threat to humankind. I used to think. If you unleash its potential, it will mastermind ways to take over the world, eliminate jobs, eradicate the need for students to learn, and forever hinder creativity. Despite its obvious dangers, I tried one random AI chat application on my phone in early 2023. I was not impressed. So, I reaffirmed my belief that nothing artificial could be inherently good.

Time passed by, and more and more people whom I respect greatly and whose talents I admire sincerely started sharing their admiration for AI. If you unleash its potential, it can revolutionize industries, create new job opportunities, enhance learning experiences for students, and inspire limitless creativity, benefiting humankind in profound ways. They would say. So, I gave it another chance! I loved it!

You know what, not all artificial inventions are harmful. Alongside artificial flavors and sweeteners, there are artificial limbs and hearts, artificial leather and fur, artificial light, heat, and cold. Moreover, I must admit that even online translators have become way better! This Blog records resources that helped me get started and change my attitude to AI from rejection to curiosity!
